The course focuses on security features, authenticity checks and fitness standards, helping you perform reliable manual checks on banknotes received from the public.

    Institutions that recirculate euro banknotes are responsible for ensuring that their staff are adequately trained. Before banknotes are put back into circulation, they must be checked for authenticity and fitness. This training contributes to maintaining the integrity and quality of euro banknotes in circulation.

    To obtain certification, you must complete the full course and pass the final quiz with a minimum score of 70%.

    In addition to this online training, the National Bank of Belgium also organises face-to-face training sessions on euro banknotes. These sessions provide practical guidance on recognising genuine banknotes, detecting counterfeits and following the correct procedures when a suspicious banknote is encountered.
